What is the Bay St. George Sick Children’s Telethon?
The Bay St. George Sick Children’s Foundation provides financial assistance to patients and family members towards the cost of travel, accommodations, meals, and other related necessities.
Why was the Bay St. George Sick Children’s Foundation started?
Prior to the establishment of the Foundation, local service groups received numerous requests for assistance from people within the Bay St. George area. These groups felt that these needs could be addresses in a more unified and efficient manner by establishing a foundation. As a result. The Foundation came into existence in April 1996.
Who may apply for assistance?
Assistance is available to dependant children under the age of 18 years who must access health care at a medical facility outside the immediate area, including treatment required outside the province.
How do I qualify for assistance?
An application must be made to the Foundation. Following the assessment and using the guidelines provided by the foundation assistance may be provided, subject to the established need. It is not the policy of the foundation to provide funding for needs that are covered by other sources such as insurance or government sponsored programs. To apply for assistance please call 643-5900.
How much assistance is available?
Specific limits have hot been established; however, consideration will be given to travel distance, the number of trips and other related factors.
Will I have to repay the assistance provided?
No. Financial assistance is provided by the foundation without the obligation of repayment.
Can I apply more than once?
Yes. You can complete the application for assistance as frequently as needed, with continuing assistance being subject to established need and availability of funds.
Will the information I provide remain confidential?
Yes. Information provided on you application for assistance will be seen only by the executive committee responsible for administering the fund.
Can I make a donation to the Bay St. George Sick Children’s Foundation?
Yes. The long-term viability of the Foundation can only be assured through the generous support of the general public.. The Foundation is a registered charitable organization. Tax receipts are available.
